Three injured in German explosion

At least three people were injured today when a gas explosion in the eastern German city of Halle severely damaged several houses today.

At least three people were injured today when a gas explosion in the eastern German city of Halle severely damaged several houses today.

The blast happened shortly before 11am (10GMT), the regional fire service said.

Police said three passers-by were hurt. One was severely injured and two suffered light wounds.

It was unclear whether anyone was in the 19th-century villa where the blast happened.

The cause was not immediately clear. A fire at the scene was quickly extinguished.
