The new version of Apocalypse Now has been well received at its first public screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

The new version of Apocalypse Now has been well received at its first public screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

It was the first time members of the public could see Apocalypse Now Redux.

The film's director Francis Ford Coppola has re-edited the film with originally unedited footage, adding more than 50 minutes of never-before-seen footage.

This definitive edition includes the much-discussed French Plantation scene which features French actress Aurore Clement.

It also has an expanded Playboy Playmates sequence, where the Bunnies are found abandoned in a derelict Red Cross camp by Captain Willard and his men, and a new Marlon Brandon/Colonel Walter Kurtz scene.

The audience cheered and clapped at the end of the screening which was held outdoors.
