A 24 year old Dublin man has been convicted of the double murder of two friends.
Gary Howard of Emerald Street in the inner city has been sentenced to life for shooting 58 year old Patrick Mooney and 46 year old Brendan Molyneux on January 10th, 2010.
The jury spent just under 8 hours deliberating before returning unanimous guilty verdicts.
In response Gary Howard just shook his head.
The trial heard friends Brendan Molyneaux and Patrick Mooney were shot in a city-centre flat at Pearse House on the evening of Sunday, January 10th, two years ago.
Howard was arrested that night and confessed to the killings before retracting the admissions and accusing gardaí of putting him under pressure.
In his confession he said that he did not want to shoot the two men who were family friends, but was forced to do so after someone put a gun in his mouth and threatened to kill him and his child.
The father of two has 40 previous convictions and will now serve life for the two murders.
