An election for chairman of the Green Party is underway.

The party's rules dictate the election because Senator Dan Boyle has now served a two-year term.

He is contesting again and will be challenged by former Kildare Councillor J J Power and chair of the party's National Council, Trish Forde Brennan.

Postal ballots will be issued to members next week, which have to be returned by December 4.
