Cork a magnet for tech workers: The right balance

The days of the mega-city may not be over but it is gratifying to know that young professionals are beginning to realise that there is more to life than urban strife.

Here in Ireland, Cork is proving to be a magnet for tech workers from all over the world in search of a more gracious way of living while still pursuing exciting job opportunities.

A survey has found that highly-skilled tech professionals are moving to Leeside for a better quality of life, shorter commutes from home to work and lower living costs.

More than 85% of those surveyed said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their relocation and 80% say they now have a better balance between their work and home lives.

Not only that, but disposable income has increased for 72% of respondents.

This is not a retro version of the hippies craze which was, essentially, a retreat from and rejection of the modern world.

Instead these highly skilled individuals are embracing modernity in all its forms while showing great maturity in adopting a holistic approach to life – getting the balance right.
