An inquest into the death of an American Roman Catholic priest in Kenya was launched today.

An inquest into the death of an American Roman Catholic priest in Kenya was launched today.

Father John Kaiser, from Minnesota, had been involved in investigating and publicising alleged human rights abuses in the East African country.

He had been in Kenya for 35 years when he was found dead beside a busy road linking the capital to Naivasha, He had been shot in the head.

Attorney General Amos Wako said an inquest was needed because there were “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death.
