Truck full of building rubble overturns close to schools in Cork

A truck has overturned close to two primary schools in Co Cork.

The lorry, carrying building rubble, overturned in Fermoy town centre at around 8.15am this morning.

The rigid truck spilled building materials onto a pavement as it tipped over while approaching MacCurtain Street, just short of two primary schools, Gaelscoil de hÍde and Bishop Murphy Memorial National School.

There were no reported injuries at the scene which would have been busy shortly afterwards with school children, but the driver is being treated for shock.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the accident.
