FG ask Walsh for clarification on farm incomes

Fine Gael agriculture spokesman Billy Timmins has called on the Minister for Agriculture and Food Joe Walsh to clarify his conclusion that farm incomes rose by 39% in the years 2000 and 2001.

Fine Gael agriculture spokesman Billy Timmins has called on the Minister for Agriculture and Food Joe Walsh to clarify his conclusion that farm incomes rose by 39% in the years 2000 and 2001.

Deputy Timmins says statistics show farm incomes will drop by 11% in real terms this year and that incomes have only increased by 13% over the last two years, as opposed to the Minister's claim of 39% over the same period.

"There is an increasing anger in the agriculture community as their incomes take a slide and that an apparent lack of interest by the Government is fuelling this," said Mr Timmins.
