A 17-year-old boy arrested for possessing a consignment of cannabis resin worth €11,000 which was allegedly found in his back garden was served with a book of evidence at the Children’s Court yesterday.

The teenager, who cannot be named because he is a juvenile, is charged with possessing the drugs for sale or supply at his west Dublin home, on July 17 last year.

He was accompanied by his mother as he was served with a book of evidence by Garda Jason Miley of Ballyfermot station.

Judge Ann Ryan ordered that the case was to go forward to the next term of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Earlier it had been held that the case was too serious to be retained in the juvenile court and should be sent to the higher court, which, on conviction, has wider sentencing powers.
