Sir Bobby Charlton and Ryan Giggs will visit Ground Zero next Wednesday to offer a memorial to the British victims of the World Trade Centre terrorist atrocity.
The poignant trip will be one of a number of engagements for the Manchester United party during their four days in the city ahead of their friendly with Juventus at the Giants Stadium on July 31.
On Tuesday, UNICEF ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson, United chief executive Peter Kenyon and a selection of players will attend the United Nations headquarters as part of a venture by the children’s charity aimed at promoting the campaign to end child exploitation.
The following day, Ferguson will take his squad to the deprived area of Queens and hand over some official kit to officially recognised soccer clubs in the district, while on Thursday Kenyon will ring the bell to confirm the opening of the New York Stock Exchange.
