A soldier who left the scene of a fatal road accident involving a pedestrian will face trial accused of perverting the course of justice, a court in the North heard today.
David Thompson (aged 20), denies the offence which allegedly happened after the collision on the Ballymena to Ballymoney road on June 18, 2005.
The victim was found at the roadside near a bar in the early hours of the morning.
Appearing in Antrim Crown Court today, Thompson, who was clean shaven and wearing a white shirt and dark jeans, pleaded guilty to three charges involving leaving the scene of an accident.
The defendant, who lives in England and whose address was given c/o Shackleton Barracks, Ballykelly, will be tried in September for allegedly perverting the course of justice.
Mr Darragh lived at Bannview Terrace in Kilrea, Co Derry.
Over a dozen members of his family were in court for the brief hearing.
