Workers at National Car Test centres throughout the country have gone on strike today in protest at disciplinary procedures.

SIPTU, which represents the workers, has accused NCT management of wrongfully dismissing 10 union activists.

The union said the cases were all deemed unfair by a Rights Commissioner. SIPTU said it was willing to enter negotiations with NCT management, but the offer had been refused.

Today’s stoppage is the first in a series of planned strikes over the matter.
