A bus has plummeted from a mountain highway in the Peruvian Andes and crashed into a ravine, killing at least 13 people.

A bus has plummeted from a mountain highway in the Peruvian Andes and crashed into a ravine, killing at least 13 people.

Twenty others have been injured in the accident near Huancaspata in a remote part of Peru's northern Andes.

The bus was heading to Lima when it skidded off a mountain road and plunged into a gorge, local press reports and witnesses said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
