Justice Minister John O’Donoghue has told the Dail that all four men convicted of killing garda Gerry McCabe have been granted temporary release from Castlerea Prison.

Justice Minister John O’Donoghue has told the Dail that all four men convicted of killing garda Gerry McCabe have been granted temporary release from Castlerea Prison.

However, the minister insisted that the men have not received preferential treatment, saying compassionate leave was available to paramilitary prisoners long before the IRA declared a ceasefire and before the Good Friday Agreement was even negotiated.
