A large part of St Stephen's Green in Dublin is expected to close when the construction of a new underground train station gets underway.

The plan, which is part of the metro and rail link-up, will cause massive disruption in the park and surrounding areas.

It is believed that most of the park will be excavated, and construction work could last for up to three years.

The station at St Stephen's Green is a key part of the Government's Transport 21 plan.
