Gardaí in Dublin have seized €2m of cannabis as part of a follow-up investigation into the discovery of €12m of the drug over the weekend.

The latest haul was discovered during a search in Rathcoole in the west of the city. Detectives said they believe the address had been used as a drugs distribution centre by a Dublin-based gang.

Three people, including a woman, were arrested for questioning following the seizure.

Over the weekend, Gardaí seized 500kg of cannabis in a van which was stopped at a checkpoint in Pryor’s Wood, Dublin, and another 500kg in a nearby house.

A number of firearms and a quantity of cocaine were also seized in related operations over the past few days, including a sub-machine gun and pistols.

Yesterday, a 32-year-old man from Coolock in Dublin was charged with possession of the drugs with intent to supply.
