Fine Gael will attempt to have the Dail debate on abortion suspended for three months later today.

Fine Gael will attempt to have the Dail debate on abortion suspended for three months later today.

The party has yet to decide whether it will support the Government’s proposed legislation and wants further clarification on the issue.

They want to know why the new legislation will be enshrined in the Constitution, meaning no Oireachtas could amend it.

They are unlikely to gain the length of suspension they want, as numbers seem stacked against them.
