Robbie Fitzpatrick has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority disciplinary panel to disqualify him for three years.
Fitzpatrick was handed the punishment earlier this month after being found guilty of passing information for reward, hindering an investigation and misleading investigators.
Fellow riders Robert Winston and Luke Fletcher have chosen not to appeal, meaning an absence of 12 months in the case of Winston – although he can still work in racing during his riding ban – and three years for Fletcher, who is disqualified. Those punishments take effect tomorrow.
Fitzpatrick partnered a winner at Southwell last Thursday and can continue to ride until his appeal – for which a date has yet to be set – is heard.
Fran Ferris has until 5pm on March 5 to appeal against his two-year disqualification as his barrister has been out of the country. He cannot ride at present as he is not currently licensed.
