Six pedestrians injured in late-night Athy car accident

Six people have been injured in an accident in Co Kildare in the early hours of this morning.

Six people have been injured in an accident in Co Kildare in the early hours of this morning.

It happened at around 2am when a car ploughed into a group of pedestrians in Emily Square in Athy.

All are being treated in hospital; one of them was seriously hurt.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with drunken driving and is due before a special sitting of Carlow District Court this afternoon.
