Gardaí have issued an appeal in a bid to find the driver of a car who left a women seriously injured after an early morning hit-and-run.

Gardaí have issued an appeal in a bid to find the driver of a car who left a women seriously injured after an early morning hit-and-run.

A woman in her 30’s is recovering in hospital in Galway following the incident which happened in Salthill in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The woman was injured outside the Dun na Carraige estate near Blackrock in the seaside resort at around 2.30am.

She was rushed to University Hospital Galway, where she is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí at Salthill have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 091-514720.
