VIDEO: Husband records dramatic rush to the hospital as wife goes into labour

When Kristin Dickerson went into labour last week, she probably wasn't expecting that it would be this dramatic or that the video of the mad dash to the hospital - filmed by her husband Troy - would be viewed more than 1.3 million times.

On the drive to the hospital on the night of June 28th, Kristin knew she wasn't going to make in time so she asked her husband to go to a closer hospital.

While they did make it to that hospital, they didn't quite make it inside as baby Truett decided to make his arrival just after they pulled up to the car park.

Standing on the footpath, Kristin gives birth to baby Truett with the help of Troy - and the parking valet.

Don't worry, the actual birth has been censored but you can listen in as Kristin - who luckily happens to be a birth educator - urges Troy to catch their son before he hits the ground.

It's pretty intense but also kind of amazing when you hear Truett's first cries

Kristin told ABC News that she was delighted to have the the whole thing on video.

“I’m thrilled to have the footage. I’m more hesitant to send it to people, because it’s such an intimate moment for us, but as a birth educator, it’s really cool to let people see that our bodies know what to do.”

We're are very impressed by the cool-headedness of both Troy and Kristin given the panic they were probably feeling - and fair play to the parking valet as well. Assisting in childbirth is probably not part of his job description.
