Detectives were today trawling through hundreds of hours of CCTV videotapes in the hunt for robbers who snatched £22m (€28.6m) from the Northern Bank in Belfast.
They are examining tapes from cameras positioned in and around the headquarters of the bank in the centre of Belfast.
More than 45 detectives are involved in the hunt for the gang which took over two houses and held families hostage as two employees were ordered to go to the bank as part of the operation to clear out the vaults.
Police said £12m (€17.1m) in new Northern Bank £10 and £20 notes as well as £1.15m (€1.6m) of £10 and £50 notes were among the stolen cash.
Detective Superintendent Andy Sproule said: “This was a carefully-planned operation by professional criminals who obviously had done their homework.”
