Cattle farmers are calling on meat factories to pay a minimum of €2.41 per kilogram for medium quality cattle.
The IFA's Livestock Committee says this is the minimum price acceptable to producers for R-Grade cattle, as it would leave producers in a break-even situation at best.
Its chairman Derek Deane added market demand in Britain and on the continent should improve in the run-up to Easter.
