Flat no obstacle to Solerina

Solerina comfortably landed the John Harney Bookmaker Race at Tipperary this afternoon for the second year running.

Nina Carberry, who had been on board last year, took the mount again, and unsurprisingly the popular James Bowe-trained mare (1-2) established a clear lead from the outset.

The pair had a moment of worry turning for home in the one-mile-six-furlong Flat race when Ms Carberry had to scrub Solerina along to keep her ahead of Liss Ard.

But the top-class hurdler ran on again and was an eased-down five lengths clear of her rival at the line.
