Sinéad O'Connor credits cult 1996 movie Trainspotting with saving her from a life of hard drugs.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer is thankful the Ewan McGregor-starring movie helped her realise the harsh reality of drugs, before she started working in the music industry.

And she believes her three children have also helped her avoid showbiz addictions.

She says: "I was lucky that I was a mum before (success) really, because I probably would have gone a lot wilder on the class A (drugs) and that.

"Thank God when I was young I saw that movie Trainspotting. The bit when they forget about the baby, that totally freaked me out. The temptation could have been to go completely wild on everything."
