Boy bands face off for Smash Hits awards

Boy bands Busted and McFly will battle it out for the most gongs at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.

Boy bands Busted and McFly will battle it out for the most gongs at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.

Each has nine nominations including best band, best single and best album.

Matt from Busted will fight it out with Danny and Dougie from McFly for the title of most fanciable man in pop – unless Justin Timberlake and Usher beat them to it.

In the best band category they face competition from Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Blue.

Britney Spears and Rachel Stevens have seven nominations apiece including most fanciable female, along with Christina Aguilera, Beyonce and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy.

Best single will go to either Toxic by Britney Spears, Thunderbirds by Busted, F*** It by Eamon, Obviously by McFly or Yeah by Usher.

David Beckham, Jonny Wilkinson, Kelly Holmes, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney are vying for the sporting hero of the year award.

The Smash Hits Poll Winners Party takes place on November 21 at Wembley Arena.

Busted, McFly, Girls Aloud, Blue, Goldie Lookin’ Chain and Natasha Bedingfield will all perform.

The awards will be shown live on Channel 4’s T4.
