Belgian investigators are questioning an Iranian man who handed himself in to police claiming he’d been approached to blow up a passenger plane on the Charleroi-Dublin route, it was reported today.
The RTBF television report said no explosives were found on the man, who was arrested at Charleroi airport last week. Police were not immediately available for comment.
RTBF said there were doubts about the man’s story and no material evidence had been found to back it up, but that he had been held on suspicion of preparing an attack.
Ryanair operates flights from Charleroi airport south of Brussels to Dublin.
