Govt drawing up terms of reference on Savita case

Work is continuing on the terms of reference of a HSE inquiry into the case of Savita Halappanavar.

Draft terms of reference on an inquiry to be carried out at Galway University Hospital have already been sent to the 31-year-old's husband Praveen.

Meanwhile, the Government is set to vote against a Sinn Féin motion calling for legislation covering abortion in the Dáil tomorrow.

They want to consider their position after receiving the report of the expert group on abortion.

It is reported one of the options put forward in the report would see two doctors consulted on whether a termination should be carried out, on a case-by-case basis.
