Offaly goalkeeper Padraig Kelly ended Mark Herbert’s four-year stranglehold on the MBNA Kick Fada title in Bray today, edging out Meath forward Joe Sheridan in a 70-metre play-off.

The 28-year-old, who played soccer in the Offaly Junior league last year, showed impressive form as Kildare man Herbert looked off form, finishing fifth with a best of 57 metres.

Kelly was himself defeated by Herbert in 2000, in a 63-metre play-off finale.

Meath woman Grainne Nulty claimed the ladies title, finishing her afternoon's work on 45 metres.
