Teachers stage Dáíl protest over cuts

Parents and teachers have protested outside the Dáil today over proposed cuts in the number of Special Needs Assistants in schools.

Parents and teachers have protested outside the Dáil today over proposed cuts in the number of Special Needs Assistants in schools.

The Department of Education has there has been an "over-allocation" of assistants, and more than 200 schools are to lose out this week.

Independent and small party TDs have tabled a motion, to be debated in the Dáil next month, in which they propose reversing the cuts.
