Derry failed to score for the first time in a competitive match this season as Cork stopped the rot of four straight defeats.

Eamonn Doherty and Sean Friars missed good openings for Derry before the break while Alan Gough did well to hold Cork's best effort from Dave Warren.

The chances came again for both sides in the second half with Cork wasting the best of them on the hour mark.

George O'Callaghan did well to round Gough to square for John O'Flynn who shot wide.

Cork almsot snatched it at the death but Darren McCready cleared off the line from Colin O'Brien in the final minute.
