Greek workers were holding a nationwide general strike today for the third time since December.

They are protesting against government plans to reform the country’s pension system.

The strike means dozens of international and domestic flights were cancelled and public services were shut across Greece.

Journalists, lawyers, hospital workers and public transport workers were also on strike.

Greeks are also suffering rolling blackouts because of a two-week strike by workers at the main power company.

Mounds of rubbish are piled up on many city streets because of strikes by binmen.

A demonstration was planned in central Athens for later in the day.
