Three quizzed about Loyalist feud killing
Three men were being questioned today about a loyalist paramilitary murder in Northern Ireland.
Detectives investigating the shooting of Andrew Cully, 47, in Newtownards, Co Down made the arrests in the town, police confirmed.
The Ulster Volunteer Force, which is locked in a violent feud with rival loyalist terrorists in Belfast, was blamed for the killing in March.
Mr Cully was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his car in Newtownards’ Westwinds Estate.
The self-employed builder and father of two teenage boys was understood to have had paramilitary and criminal links.
His murder was included in a ceasefire watchdog’s scathing assessment of terrorist violence in Northern Ireland.
The Independent Monitoring Commission listed Mr Cully, from the village of Greyabbey on the Ards Peninsula, as one of 12 people killed by terror organisations since January 2003.
