John Toshack praised the unsung heroes who stepped in and produced a result which gives Wales hope going into their next match against England.
The forthcoming Millennium Stadium battle with England in Cardiff dominated the after-match discussions, as Wales had forced a commendable 0-0 draw with a Slovenia side who could well reach next summer’s World Cup finals.
Toshack said: “The two midfielders were very impressive. Carl Fletcher hasn’t had a game for West Ham yet and he got better and better as the game went on. As did Carl Robinson, they linked well and passed the ball well.
“We moved the midfielders around, we had problems in front of Fletcher and behind the front two, but we changed the way we played and it was much better in the second half.
“We were missing nine from the original squad, so the lads who did play can be pleased with themselves. Losing the stars did affect the attendance, but we don’t want to talk about the ones who were not here, only about the ones who can in and did very well.”
