The Health Service Executive says no decision will be taken until the New Year on whether the controversial PPARS computer system will be rolled out nationally.
A value-for-money audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General has been published.
It says the payroll system has cost €133m to date, and this will rise to €195m if the project is to be completed by the end of next year.
The report strongly criticises management of the project for lacking a defined budget, and criticises the €57m spent on consultants, including €38.5m to Delloitte and Touche.
Micheál Martin was minister for health when the PPARS system was ordered, but said today that he has not yet read the comptroller’s report.
He stressed that he supports one national delivery system as opposed to the 11 separate bodies that were in operation for the past 30 years.
