From the maker of the highly-successful Ice Age comes another charming computer-animated story … a battle of the good old against the nasty new.
The story concerns a group of little tin men whose days seem numbered when a rival group of new, gleaming and more sophisticated 'machines' appear on the horizon … is, the message goes, the new always better than the familiar old?
It's a clever and well-constructed film, made with a larger budget than Ice Age, and with almost 200 key characters, and even if the message is rammed home with more than necessary force - the environment comes in for a hefty championing - it's the sort of satisfying film that will entertain an audience of mixed age.
The cast - and how interesting that so many A-Listers are these days anxious to lend their voices to the growing list of animated films - is the sort any director would kill for … and they are all quite excellent.
Wedge and his team are hoping that Robots will be even more successful than their first effort, and there is every indication that their hopes will be realised.
