Guillermo Canas gained the upper hand in his match with Tim Henman despite losing the opening set at the French Open, taking the third set 6-4.
Henman made the perfect start to his third round match when he won the first set 6-4, but the Argentine hit back to win the second by the same scoreline.
The British number one was bidding to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros for the first time in his career.
Henman was beginning to make too many unforced errors and, just like the preceding set, it proved costly in the third game when he lost his serve after putting a backhand volley into the net and floating a forehand long.
He was embarrassed by one audacious Canas lob and his own attempts at a couple of deft drop shots only resulted in him losing the points.
The frustration was beginning to show and three successive wild mis-hit forehands in the seventh game allowed Canas the protection of a second service break.
To his credit Henman in desperation went on the offensive, chipping and charging the net and it earned him a break back.
He also saved two set points in his next service game but it was a short reprieve as Canas went on to win the set 6-4 and take control of the match at two sets to one.
