Minister announces planning board review

The Environment Minister has announced an organisational review on An Bord Pleanála.

The independent board is responsible, among other things, for deciding on planning appeals.

In a statement, Minister Alan Kelly said he considers that now is an "opportune time" to undertake the review "to ensure that it is appropriately positioned for the future".

It is proposed that the timeframe for the review will be approximately six months, with a report and recommendations being submitted to the Minister by the end of the year.
