Taxi stoning puts boy, 5, in hospital

A five-year-old boy was being treated for a serious eye injury today after the taxi he was travelling in was stoned by youths in Belfast last night.

A five-year-old boy was being treated for a serious eye injury today after the taxi he was travelling in was stoned by youths in Belfast last night.

The boy and his mother were travelling in a taxi close to St George’s Market in the south of the city when the vehicle was attacked.

A gang of youths from the Markets housing estate started throwing stones at the car at around 9.45pm.

One of the stones smashed a window of the passing taxi and hit the boy in the face.

He is receiving treatment in hospital.
