The digital satellite services company BSkyB announced that it has added 39,000 customers to its Irish subscriber base, which will now amount to 232,000.
This customer gain threatens Chorus' position as the country's second biggest pay TV firm with BSkyB now serving nearly a quarter of Irish households.
BSkyB has announced operating profits before goodwill of £129m stg (€207m) in the nine months to end- March from a year ago.
This was driven by a stronger than anticipated customer growth with the company currently serving 5.89 million subscribers for Sky channels in Europe.
