A major European study is expected to reveal today that Ireland is consuming more alcohol per head of population than any of our EU neighbours.

A major European study is expected to reveal today that Ireland is consuming more alcohol per head of population than any of our EU neighbours.

The study on alcohol is also expected to show that Irish drinkers have a high tendency to binge drink and inflict more harm through alcohol than any other country surveyed.

Violence and accidents while under the influence is also likely to place Ireland top of the league among our European neighbours.
