A six-week-old baby has been killed in a freak accident in Dublin.

A six-week-old baby has been killed in a freak accident in Dublin.

The child died after a tipper truck overturned on top of a car, trapping the baby inside.

It happened on Rochestown Avenue in south Co Dublin just after 11.30am, when the truck which was unloading clay turned over onto the car, in which the child was travelling with its mother.

The mother escaped injury, but the infant received fatal injuries.

The body has been taken to Loughlinstown Hospital in Dublin.
