Dooley calls on Bruton to investigate Target Express job losses
Fianna Fáil is calling on the Department of Enterprise and Minister Richard Bruton to examine if everything was done to save Target Express.
The haulage company ceased trading this week with the loss of almost 400 jobs around the country.
The owner Seamus McBrien is blaming the Revenue Commissioners for rejecting a deal to pay outstanding debt.
Workers are vowing to continue sit-ins at the firms operations in Cork and Galway, demanding unpaid wages.
Fianna Fáil's Transport spokesperson Timmy Dooley wants an investigation to ensure every effort was made to secure the future of the company.
"The department and minister have a responsibility for jobs, enterprise and innovation. While we hear a lot from the government about their efforts to create jobs, it's quite worrying that there doesn't seem to have been a concentrated effort to protect almost 400 jobs.
"I'll be calling on the minister to carry out a review of the activities of all the organs of state to ensure their central focus was on the protection of these jobs."
