Great Britain women’s athletics team captain Paula Radcliffe is to receive an honorary degree for her contribution to sport at a ceremony today.
The achievements of the 28-year-old world cross-country and world half-marathon champion are being marked with an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from De Montfort University in Bedford, Bedfordshire.
Radcliffe, who battles with exercise-induced asthma, has set seven Commonwealth and UK records at 300 metres, 5,000m and 10,000m.
She graduated from Loughborough University in 1996 with a first class honours BA in European Studies.
