Ecuador’s president Alfredo Palacio has sacked economy minister Jose Jouvin, just 17 days before he himself is due to leave office.
The administration’s secretary, Rafael Parreno, said the “decision was due to a series of delays in the procedures and projects in the economy ministry”, mainly with local and municipal governments.
Jouvin had been in the job since October 18, when he took over from Armando Rodas, who resigned under similar circumstances.
Jouvin was Palacio’s fifth economy minister since the president took office on April 20 last year, following former President Lucio Gutierrez’s removal from office.
