A number of houses were evacuated in Co Meath tonight after a tanker leaked gas.

A number of houses were evacuated in Co Meath tonight after a tanker leaked gas.

Three fire brigades and gardaí have cordoned off the scene around the damaged gas truck at Station Road in Gormanstown.

A Garda spokesman said: “Some of the nearby houses have been evacuated. The immediate area has been sealed off.”

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 6pm as a precaution.

Gardaí said there were traffic diversions in place.
