HSE cuts bed numbers at Athy hospital

Twenty-four 24 beds are to go at a care of the elderly hospital in Co Kildare, it was announced today.

Twenty-four 24 beds are to go at a care of the elderly hospital in Co Kildare, it was announced today.

The Health Service Executive is to shut the beds at St Vincent's Hospital in Athy on a phased basis, meaning there will be no new admissions.

This is the second ward closure at the facility, bringing the total number of beds shut since September 2009 to 47.
