People over the age of 65 are being advised to get vaccinated against pneumonia this autumn.

People over the age of 65 are being advised to get vaccinated against pneumonia this autumn.

The disease caused over 2,000 deaths last year and experts put this down to a lack of awareness about the illness.

Doctor Ross Ardill of the Know Pneumonia awareness campaign said that only 3% of over 65's got the new vaccine last year.

He said he hopes many more will take the vaccine this year. It can be administered by GPs in conjunction with the flu jab.
