Lord not a certain Cheltenham runner

The Dark Lord is only “50-50” to attempt a four-timer in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham on Friday.

The seven-year-old won at Uttoxeter in May and his last two successes have come at Prestbury Park, most recently when landing the Listed Lombard Properties Handicap Hurdle last month.

“We have entered him for Cheltenham but we are not quite sure whether he will run, he’s probably only 50-50 at the moment,” trainer Lucy Wadham said today.

“He’s not a horse that takes a lot of racing. As you can see from his record, he’s only raced 11 times and we are just a bit concerned this might come too quick for him.

“The main aim is to get him qualified for the Pertemps Hurdle at the Festival next year, so if he doesn’t run on Friday he could go to Wincanton on Boxing Day or Warwick on January 15.”
