Olympiacos coach Dusan Bajevic has urged his team to snuff out the threat of Steven Gerrard when they face Liverpool in the Champions League tomorrow.
The Greeks need only a draw at Anfield to progress to the next stage of Europe’s top club competition.
But Bajevic believes Gerrard can blow their hopes apart now the influential England midfielder has regained full fitness.
He said tonight: “Liverpool are stronger and more productive with Steven Gerrard in the side.
“Of all their players he is the one we must give the most attention to.
“Liverpool have many good players, of course, but Gerrard can damage us.”
Bajevic has promised they will not sit back even though a point would be good enough.
“We will not be going for a goal-less draw,” he said. “That is not our style.
“I did not want it to come down to a final match with Liverpool.
“But if we are to progress in this tournament we have to play knock-out. So for us the knock-out phase starts at Anfield.”
Olympiacos go into the match with high hopes after maintaining their position at the top of the table by beating Panathinaikos at the weekend.
A goal from former Bolton target Rivaldo saw them travel to England in good heart, although Bajevic admitted the result was better than the performance.
“These three points were very important for our confidence in view of the game against Liverpool, “ he said.
“I was not happy with the performance of my team but what counts at the end of the day is the victory.”
Brazilian ace Rivaldo said: “Now we have to concentrate on the game against Liverpool where we need to win and qualify.”
